Concussion Clinic Vernon

If you are looking for baseline testing, please visit our page here.

It’s not just high-risk activities or sports that cause concussions. Everyday life can unexpectedly catch you by surprise with a head injury causing a concussion, disrupting your way of living and happiness. At Easthill Physiotherapy, our therapists are specially trained to help you recover quickly.

Concussions affect hundreds of people in our city and thousands in our province each year. In our experience, many people with concussions don’t receive adequate care or support, leaving them to struggle after their injury.

Our goal is to make the recovery process simple, clear, and timely so you can focus on getting better in the fastest, safest, and most complete way possible.

What is a Concussion?

A concussion is a disruption in neurological functioning caused by acceleration or deceleration of the brain following an impact to the head or elsewhere on the body. This impact causes a biochemical imbalance within brain cells as well as decreased blood flow and temporary energy deficits within the brain.

Post-Concussion Syndrome

Sometimes people continue to have concussion symptoms months after their injury. If you have had a concussion in the past that has resulted in ongoing symptoms persisting longer than 1-3 months after injury, you may be experiencing post-concussion syndrome.

Concussion Management

Easthill Physiotherapy & Acupuncture is a concussion management clinic certified through the Complete Concussion Management Inc. (CCMI) organization. This certification enables us to join an international network of clinics who offer evidence-based concussion care. Our physiotherapists collaborate with primary care physicians to help patients and athletes safely.

What does this mean for you?

Because your patient data can be accessed at any CCMI certified clinic around the world, you can walk into any CCMI accredited clinic for treatment with your personal data on file. This also includes your own baseline testing values, if you have them.

Treatment and Management

If you have sustained a concussion, a thorough examination is completed to assess physical capacity, visual and vestibular dysfunction, and cervical spine function. Individualized rehabilitation and treatment strategies are implemented depending on the examination findings and, if a baseline test has previously been done, aimed at returning the client to their pre-injury measurements.

Our services include:

• The most comprehensive baseline testing anywhere
• Post-injury diagnosis and injury management
• Concussion rehabilitation for chronic symptoms or post-concussion syndrome
• Coach & trainer education and certification programs

Our treatment programs are tailored specifically to each patient and their goals, returning them to their everyday life activities without limitations. We take the time to listen to your unique challenges and design a program to meet your individual needs and help you to take control of your recovery.

COVID-19 SAFETY

Easthill Physiotherapy + Acupuncture Clinic has protocols to ensure the utmost safety for our patients, team and community. We have worked hard to protect our public health during this pandemic. Medical masks are mandatory for all staff and patients to keep everyone safe, and we appreciate your commitment.

We continue to follow the guidelines and protective measures indicated by our regulatory boards and governments. Our team has also had extensive training on our new protocols, and we are all 100% committed to ensuring our patients’ safety.

This is the new normal.

All patients and staff will be screened before each visit. Unfortunately, anyone showing signs of respiratory infection will be unable to come into the clinic. We will encourage and book virtual physiotherapy appointments for those that need help but are symptomatic if a client is at greater risk or for anyone who is not comfortable coming into the clinic.

We have the highest standards for hand hygiene and cleaning. All equipment and rooms will be disinfected after each use, frequently touched surfaces will be sterilized, and personal protective equipment will be used in all appropriate situations. Patients and staff will have hand washing stations to ensure proper frequent hand hygiene.

We also understand that it is necessary to reduce the risk of transmission with physical distancing. To do this, we have installed plexiglass barriers, reduced the number of appointments available by spreading them out and designed an optimal patient flow that minimizes contact with other patients and staff before and after appointments. Our team is also committed to practicing these as measures of hand hygiene and physical distancing outside the clinic to be safe when they return to work.

Although it may seem different with the steps we need to take, the Easthill Physiotherapy + Acupuncture team is still the same! We still believe in the same values and are here to provide an extraordinary physiotherapy experience. This is not going to change. Our goal is to keep all of us healthy and happy.

Our fabulous admin team is available to book in-clinic appointments now. Or if you prefer a virtual physiotherapy visit, we can book that too. Please call us at 250-545-2922 to book an appointment or if you would like more information.
